Chimney Crown Repair & Replacement in Queens & Long Island

The crown is the concrete or mortar slab that caps the top of the chimney. Freeze-thaw cycles crack it, letting water into the masonry below; small cracks can be sealed, while badly broken crowns need to be replaced.

What is chimney crown repair & replacement?

The crown is the slab at the top of a masonry chimney that sheds water away from the brick. Many crowns are built as a thin layer of mortar without an overhang, which cracks quickly in freeze-thaw winters.

Hairline cracks can be sealed with a flexible crown coating. Wide cracks, crumbling crowns or crowns without a proper overhang usually need to be replaced.
